In order to enhance the cooperation and exchanges in education, culture, science and technology between other countries and Guiyang University, according to The Rules and Regulations for Chinese Government Scholarship under the International Exchanges and Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Education, Measures for the Administration of International Students Scholarship of Guizhou Province, Guiyang University has launched the scholarship schemes to sponsor international students and scholars to undertake studies and research in Guiyang University.
Chapter I General Provisions
Article 1 In order to promote the cultural exchanges between China and other countries, attract more international students to study in Guiyang University, expand international influence of Guiyang University, and encourage international students to study hard, the International Students Scholarship is established to award and sponsor those international students to study and communicate in Guiyang University.
Article 2 This Scholarship is applicable to reward international students who come to our school to study and exchange including undergraduate, exchange students, Chinese language trainees, short-term, medium and long-term trainees with other projects and ISEC program students.
Chapter II Classification and Standard of Scholarship
Besides scholarship programs sponsored by China national and Guizhou provincial governments and relative authorities, scholarship programs sponsored by Guiyang University are also available.
Guiyang University currently provides international students with below scholarship programs, and international students may apply for relative grade according to their own eligibility. Guiyang University reserves all rights for the explanations of approval and granting of scholarship programs.
1st Grade Scholarship Program: 1st Grade Scholarship covers international students’ tuition, textbooks, and dormitory. At the end of each semester, subsistence allowance will be given to each international student according to their monthly performance evaluation.
2nd Grade Scholarship Program: 2nd Grade Scholarship covers international students’ tuition and textbooks. At the end of each semester, subsistence allowance will be given to each international student according to their monthly performance evaluation.
3rd Grade Scholarship Program: 3rd Grade Scholarship covers 80% of international students’ total yearly tuition and all textbooks. At the end of each semester, subsistence allowance will be given to each international student according to their monthly performance evaluation.
4th Grade Scholarship Program: 4th Grade Scholarship covers 50% of international students’ total yearly tuition and all textbooks. At the end of each semester, subsistence allowance will be given to each international student according to their monthly performance evaluation.
Besides scholarship programs, Guiyang University also grant students below awards:
To students who registered Chinese language class:
500RMB will be awarded to those who passed HSK (level III) test;
1,000RMB will be awarded to those who passed HSK (level IV) test;
1,500RMB will be awarded to those who passed HSK (level V) test.
To students who registered degree programs:
500RMB will be awarded to those who positioned in the first 30% of his/her class in the yearly comprehensive evaluation;
1,000RMB will be awarded to those who positioned in the first 20% of his/her class in the yearly comprehensive evaluation;
1,500RMB will be awarded to those who positioned in the first 10% of his/her class in the yearly comprehensive evaluation.
As for all scholarship holders, subsistence allowance is given to those who achieved qualified or above grades in all monthly qualified performance evaluation of each semester. Performance evaluation collects students’ grades at a full scale of 100 points categorized by international students’ class attendance, teachers’ teaching assessment, international students’ obedience of various regulations, etc., and a final monthly score is calculated and graded as:
DISQUALIFIED: below 60 points;
QUALIFIED: from 60 points to 70 points below;
GOOD: from 70 points to 80 points below;
EXCELLENT: from 80 points to 100 points.
To all scholarship bearers, subsistence allowance will be given according to the average performance evaluation grade of the total grade added by each and all months of the semester. Scholarship bearers will be subsidized:
None, if the average performance evaluation grade scores at DISQUALIFIED;
RMB300/month, if the average performance evaluation grade scores at QUALIFIED;
RMB400/month, if the average performance evaluation grade scores at GOOD;
RMB500/month, if the average performance evaluation grade scores at EXCELLENT.
Total months quantity is decided by the teaching schedule of each semester. Should the schedule cover (a) month(s) less than 15 days, an half month (0.5) is calculated, and one (1) month is calculated if more than 15 days.
International students at Guiyang University will be continuously granted scholarship programs on condition that international students’ yearly average performance grades stand at QUALIFIED or higher. A yearly average grades stand at GOOD or above, or won competitions at a municipal or higher level competition on behalf of Guiyang University, or obtained other outstanding achievements will be upgraded their scholarship programs or awarded by Guiyang University by other means. A yearly average grades stand at DISQUALIFED will eliminate students’ eligibility of receiving previously granted scholarship programs. International students who break Chinese laws or Guiyang University regulations will not receive previously granted scholarship programs.
Article 4 School can adjust the standard and criteria of scholarship according to the actual circumstance.
Chapter III Eligibility
Article 5 Applicant must bear foreign nationality and be healthy;
Article 6 Applicant must be friendly to China, abide by Chinese laws and regulations, and obey school rules and regulations;
Article 7 Applicants should obtain the qualifications for admission; according to School’s Programs for International Students;
Article 8 Applicant must be excellent in study, and have extraordinary behavior in all rounds in their original school;
Article 9 Applicant’s Chinese language ability is demanded by relevant regulations of School’s Programs for International Students.
Chapter IV Application and Review
Article 10 All the international students who have been enrolled in Guiyang University have the qualification to apply for the International Students Scholarship, one time for every school year. Those qualified students can continue to apply next school year.
Article 11 Application materials below will be demanded:
1. Application Form for International Students Scholarship of Guiyang University;
2. Copy of passport;
3. Copies of last diploma and degree certificate (e.g.: Certificate of Graduation);
4. Academic record and performance certificate issued by respective college or university;
5. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (printed and distributed by China’s health and quarantine departments) shall be presented if the applicant has a no-shorter-than-three-month study in China;
6. Study Plan (no less than 400 words) or Research Plan (no less than 800 words) must be submitted for degree program applicants or research student applicants;
7. Relative legal documentation of statutory guardian in China must be submitted if the applicant is under the age of 18.
Article 12 The evaluation of the scholarship is conducted on the basis of openness, fairness, impartiality and choosing the better.
Article 13 The results of the review of International Students Scholarship would be made public for three days.
Article 14 The international Students have the right of appeal if they disagree with the results.
Article 15 Guiyang University sets up International Student Scholarship Review and Management Committee. The school leadership in charge of this is the committee director and the Joint Education Office should be in charge of the organization and coordination work of the review of International Students Scholarship
Chapter V Reservation and Cancellation of Scholarship
Article 16 Scholarship students should go to Guiyang University to register on the date stipulated by the university. Those who fail to register without the prior consent of the institution will be considered as voluntarily giving up their enrollment, and the scholarship will automatically be withdrawn.
Article 17 If the scholarship student breaks laws and regulations of China or respective college or university, he or she will be disqualified.
Article 18 For Students who have to suspend their studies because of serious diseases, the scholarship will be canceled during the suspension, but the scholarship status can be reserved for at most one year.
Article 19 Costs of the laboratory experiment or internship that beyond the university’s arrangements should be afforded by the student himself.
Article 20 The medical and other relevant costs caused by any violence actions and violation of the law and school rules should be afforded by the student himself.
Chapter VI Others
Article 21 These Measures have taken effect since July of 2015.
Article 22 Office for International Exchange and Cooperation of Guiyang University holds the only right to explain these Measures.
